Mary I of England, known as Mary Tudor, was responsible for burning almost 300 Protestants at the stake in the Marian Persecutions in her attempts to create a more Catholic England, in the mid-16th century. In this way, she earned the nickname "Bloody Mary".That queen could order a brutal slaughter, but she was unable to bring life to the world. She had a false pregnancy that aroused many suspicions. Three months after their marriage, María began to sense that she was pregnant, seeing how her belly increased in volume and even said that she could feel the movement of the fetus. However, the doctors attributed the actual inflammation of the belly to dropsy, a vulgar fluid retention, and soon Maria's swollen belly began to deflate again.
Shortly after, in 1558, Maria thought that she might be pregnant again, but after the disappointment she had felt, this time she decided to keep the news a secret. Unfortunately, once again it turned out to be a false alarm. But the worst was yet to come as Queen María I died shortly after the bad news.
Despite having earned the nickname of Bloody Mary for the Marian Persecutions, there are also people who believe that it is she who appears behind the mirrors since she continues to search for her lost children and is willing to steal one if necessary.
As the story goes, Mary Queen of Scots gave no orders for bloodshed; blood was just spilling around him by pure chance. Her ill-fated marriage to her cousin, the Earl of Darnley, went from bad to worse until her husband stabbed a man 56 times in front of her while she was heavily pregnant.
After the cruel murder, Darnley died mysteriously. Although there was never any proof, many suspected that it had been Maria, and she even married one of the main suspects in Darnley's murder.
Mary fled with her young son, John (the then future King of England) and went to her cousin, Queen Elizabeth I, to ask for protection. But, fearing a possible uprising in favor of Mary to take her throne, Elizabeth ordered her to be put in jail where she remained for 19 years. Following many people trying to convince Isabel of many conspiracies along with some attempts to escape from jail by Maria, she was sentenced to death by beheading.
The executioner did not have the necessary strength to carry out the task and even had to make three blows with his sword to separate the head from the body.
Once decapitated, the executioner raised his head and shouted: "God save the Queen." But he had only grabbed her red wig and the royal head of the queen fell to the ground. The head rolled on the ground towards the spectators who saw that it was Gray and shaved head, the act exceeded the expectations of English spectators accustomed to witnessing the monumental tragedies in the works of William Shakespeare.
It is therefore suggested that her gruesome death and much bloodshed surrounding her life ended up making Queen Mary of Scots a strong candidate for the Bloody Mary of urban legend.
